Colloidal Silver Side Effects

Contrary to the many writings extolling the virtues of colloidal silver
there are some who claim that colloidal silver side effects are potentialy serious and hazardous to ones health.
Extensive research on the internet shows that most all examples quoted of colloidal silver side effects involve the condition called argyria.
Argyria is a condition that causes the skin to take on a blue/silvery appearance. A person having developed this condition, would have inhaled or ingested silver in hugh amounts, over a very long period of time.
Only eleven cases of argyria have been reported and only one fatality although precise cause of death was not firmly established. In general the condition is not thought to be life threatening. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease REgistry (ATSDR) supports this view.
The condition Argyria was first recognised at the beginning of the 20th century. The main cause of Argyria was thought to have been through the mechanical impregnation of silver dust and chemicals into the skins and lungs of people working in such industries as silver refining and mining, electroplating, the manufacture of silverware and certain photographic processess involving silver.
colloidal silver side effectsColloidal silver side effects was also thought to be responsible for some cases and consequently with the advent of modern antibiotics, which were considered to be both safe and effective, the use of silver products in medicine was largely discontinued in the 1940's.
That was the case until recently, when there has been a resurgence of interest in the use of colloidal silver for the treatment of many diseases and conditions.
There has been a continual offensive by the FDA who seek to prevent the product from getting into the hands of the public, some say because it cannot be branded and financially controlled by the pharmaceutical giants. They cite continually the few recorded cases of argyria as reason for their concern, but at the end of the day the public will decide whether the supposed colloidal silver side effects outweigh the benefits.
The strength of the resurgence shown in the uses of colloidal silver, is due in no small measure, to the appearance of the so called super bugs, which defy the power of modern antibiotics to eradicate them. With the ability of these bugs to change their form ie. mutate and the increasingly inability of antibiotics to deal with them, it is no wonder that the public, once again, turn to a remedy that had served them well for centuries.
